Let's go all the way back to 2008!
Man.
Where to begin.
When Twilight first came out, I honestly never understood why it was so damn popular.
I remember back in school, everyone was getting copies of the book and it was the topic of conversation for months.
I think I was able to get a copy of it, most likely by borrowing from a friend, but I ended up not reading it (what can I say... I have no idea why).
Although the movie was critically criticized as "cheesy" and "lame" in my school, and that the books were better than the movie, everyone (just the girls, really) cannot stop talking their newfound crushes on either Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner (hence, Team Edward v.s. Team Jacob).
For me, I was definitely Team Jacob. Only because of Taylor Lautner, and not because of Jacob.
But please, I highly doubt most preteens would fall for the character rather than the actor portraying it.
To present day, I was able to read the first Twilight book (took 12 years later), and it really helped me understand the movie better (obviously), and Edward was actually quite a romantic to Bella. I'm still Team Jacob, but I'm slowly understanding why girls chose to be Team Edward now. I'm about to start reading the second book, and according to my best friend, Jacob appears a lot more than the first.
Another great thing about Twilight was that Robert and Kristen dated in real life which led to an ultimate fandom for their love-team. Even though things didn't work out, they were one of the most iconic couples in the 2000's. I still have hope they may go back together, but I heard Robert is engaged.
First blog post down, many more to go!
